Wisconsin Lutheran College accelerated degree completion student, Ginger Moore, recently earned the Walmart Learning Assessment Stipend for her Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) 100 course. The CAEL 100 course is a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) course, designed to convert college equivalent learning from life experience and knowledge into college credits. This course serves as an excellent resource for working adults who have gained extensive experience in various subjects and are looking for an opportunity to capitalize on that knowledge. “Find something you know a lot about and turn it into college credit… it’s that simple!” says Moore.
Ginger Moore first learned of the stipend opportunity through her academic advisor, Melissa Darelius. After a phone discussion with her CAEL advisor, Barbara Van Dyke, a nomination was entered on Moore‘s behalf. She was awarded the full $750.00 Walmart Learning Assessment Stipend, which covered the entire course cost.
“Financially, I was at a disadvantage before the scholarship,” Moore said. “Now I have an advantage! The biggest advantage is me having more time for core classes with my electives out of the way. I couldn’t be happier right now because of it; and of course, Melissa’s original suggestion of the CAEL program and scholarship, as well as Barbara’s quick actions to make it happen.”
